BIM objects added to Crown Paints online services

  • 20 May 2015

The new service can be accessed via the Crown Paints’ Specification website, or by visiting the paint manufacturer’s profile on the National BIM Library – an online library consisting of generic and proprietary BIM objects such as walls, windows, doors, foundations, cladding and roofs.

BIM Objects enables users to integrate Crown Paints’ products into a digital model.

Crown Paints has subscribed to the service in advance of the UK Government’s proposal for 3D BIM to be implemented on its own sourced projects by 2016.

Usman Akhtar, Specification Sector Support Manager at Crown Paints, said that introducing BIM objects reflects the company’s commitment to bringing technological innovation to the specification process.

He commented: “We feel it will bring significant benefits for the industry, including a more consolidated manner in which specifiers can quickly and effectively pull out relevant product information used within the project at any stage.”

The BIM service joins a variety of online tools available from Crown Paints, including the dedicated specification site. This central hub brings together a host of online resources, to underpin a more selective, sustainable specification process.

The website also includes Crown Paints’ PaintSpec Finder, which delivers instant and technically-detailed specification plans for exterior and interior projects.
