CIRIA releases environmental responsibility guide

CIRIA

Environmental good practice on site

CIRIA launches 'Environmental good practice on site' guide to help clients be more aware of responsibilities for environmental management, ensuring compliance with legal and other requirements.

Construction activities can impact on the areas surrounding a site, including neighbours, and both the natural and built environments.

By improving the way resources are used it ensures that such impacts are managed positively, helping to improve environmental issues.

The global economy consumes vast quantities of raw materials, water and energy.

In the UK alone, more than 400 million tonnes of materials are used each year, making it the nation's largest consumer of natural resources.

Materials impact on the environment in many ways and the latest edition of Environmental good practice on site (C692) will help clients, their professional advisers, contractors and the whole construction supply chain to be more aware of their responsibilities.

The new edition of the guide covers environmental good practice from the planning stage, through to the overall management of the site to ensure environmental good practice, taking into account pre-construction, construction and post-construction activities, as well as identifying particular environmental issues that may become problematic for a particular site.
