Safesite Lifeline for Jubilee Gardens renovation at London’s Southbank
Safesite Lifeline system
Safesite’s bespoke Lifeline system provided discreet fall arrest solution for a new Jubiloo public convenience built near the London Eye.
Jubilee Gardens redevelopment, completed in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games, included the construction of a new public convenience by Healthmatic, working with roofing & cladding specialist Brandclad.
Known as the ‘Jubiloo’ the building features a golden ship like roof which has also been designed to collect rainwater to help flush the toilets.
As with all roofs, access is required for maintenance purposes, but as it can be viewed from both the Hungerford Bridge and the London Eye, the choice of roof safety system had to be discreet so as not to detract from its dramatic design.
Safesite’s Horizontal Lifeline system has provided the ideal fall arrest solution.
- designed as a continual ‘handsfree’ system
- enables the operatives to work on the roof safely without having to detach from the fall protection system
- specially designed golden coating means that it blends in with the roof, providing minimal impact on the aesthetics of the building
Safesite has a team of qualified engineers and designers who are able to adapt systems to provide a solution to virtually every requirement.
The company remains committed to ensuring that work at height is carried out safely and offers advice regarding compliance with the latest legislation as well as CPD, health & safety and product training.
The Safesite Kee Walk system is fully compliant to BS 4592 and designed for use on flat, barrel and sloping roofs. It features step and traverse options to allow access to be created for virtually any roof configuration from 0 to 35° and can be either free standing or fixed to the roof covering, with open, slip-resistant treads that provide for effective water drainage.
Safesite now offers the KeeGuard range of guardrails for freestanding permanent edge protection where regular access is required, plus KeeGuard Topfix edge protection for metal profile and standing seam roofs.
Safesite’s COSHH Assessor Training course is ideal for those with a direct or indirect responsibility for the management of hazardous substances.
The Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury now provides staff with safe access to recycling bins in the underground loading bay, after Safesite installed a bespoke safety system.
System 2000 freestanding guardrail, installed by Safesite at the Crawley campus of Central Sussex College, enables safe access to the roof for maintenance purposes.
