The Recofloor vinyl floor recycling scheme
Axion is managing a vinyl flooring recycling scheme launched by Altro and Polyflor.
Altro and Polyflor have invested time and cost into developing internal recycling processes for vinyl flooring and now feel ready to set up an industry collection scheme.
The Recofloor scheme aims to increase the recycling of waste vinyl flooring throughout the UK.
Safety flooring and smooth vinyl offcuts from the installation process will be recycled back into new flooring.
Uplifted or end of life material, will be used in the manufacture of traffic calming products, such as traffic cone and road barrier bases.
The Recofloor scheme has been developed from a Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) trial.
Waste flooring is accepted from a wide range of sources.
Axion's role involves co-ordinating and managing Recofloor collection systems.
Registered Recofloor participants are provided with bulk bags to fill with vinyl flooring and are then collected from site.
Bags can also be dropped off at designated sites across the UK.
Recofloor is keen to increase the number of drop-off sites from the existing 19, and to recruit distributors to provide these drop-off points.
