When it comes to simple and effective ways to deal with the problem of heat loss caused by uncontrolled air leakage from a building, Tremco illbruck has it taped with its i3 system.
The revised part L of the Building Regulations (2006) includes a mandatory requirement that buildings are checked for air leakage.
Tremco illbruck offers a 10 year insurance backed guaranteed sealant system designed to satisfy both air and weather tightness regulations.
The idea behind Tremco illbruck i3 is that the inside of the building is secured tighter than the outside.
The aim is to seal out the weather while sealing in comfort and energy savings.
At the same time it also allows the building to breathe.

A three level system (inner, middle and outer), i3 allows you to select the appropriate combination of sealant products to meet the precise needs of any installation.
The system includes a high performance impregnated foam tape, or a flexible window foil for the outside and a foil or silicone sealant for inside.
There is also a gap filling sealant offering both acoustic and thermal insulation for the middle section between frame and reveal.
All in all there are six different components to choose from.
Because of the innate flexibility of i3, the system lives and breathes with the building.
And it meets all the requirements of modern sealing technology.
Such an effective package of air tightness products also helps prevent condensation and so maximises the continuing thermal insulation properties and reduces the chance of damage to the system.
