Thermal laminate suits hard-to-treat walls

A Proctor Groupcontact supplier

Spacetherm F

Spacetherm F lining boards can achieve similar thermal performance to traditional plasterboard laminates at a fraction of the thickness, according to A Proctor Group.

Spacetherm F comprises Spacetherm insulation blanket laminated to Fermacell, for use in applications where low u-values are required but space is limited.

This is to allow designers greater flexibility and higher performance for refurbishment projects.

The strength and fire-resistance properties of Fermacell and the thermal insulation properties of Spacetherm combine to give a versatile insulated lining board.

Spacetherm F is approved by Ofgem as an Energy Saving Measure and is funded in certain applications by A Proctor partner, British Gas.

Spacetherm F is suitable for thermally upgrading hard-to-treat homes.

As Spacetherm F is internally applied, it allows social housing providers to upgrade properties quickly, causing minimum disruption to tenants and reducing the loss of internal space.

In February 2007, the A Proctor Group, in conjunction with Angus Council, undertook a trial project to investigate the use of Spacetherm F to increase the thermal performance of existing housing stock.

By using 30mm (total overall thickness) Spacetherm F, the average u-value for the walls was reduced from 0.628W/m2K to 0.35W/m2K.

A Proctor Group said that the benefits of Spacetherm F include zero ODP, (ozone depletion potential), GWP (Global Warming Potential) of less than five and a 50-year accelerated ageing test that shows no loss in thermal performance.

Fermacell has a lifetime of the building durability statement and is manufactured using 100 per cent recycled materials.
