Duo E gasketed window membrane

The new push-fit Duo E gasketed window membrane from Tremco illbruck has been installed at a student residence in London.

In its first UK application, the window membrane was installed at the student residence in Wedgewood Court in North London as part of a project for the UNITE Group.

The house has a concrete frame and used UNITE’s modular construction techniques, with components manufactured off-site and delivered on a just-in-time basis.

The membrane is for application to windows and doors after installation.

The membrane has a tear-proof woven fleece fabric with a polyethylene copolymer film.

To seal a frame, Duo E is attached to the wall with butyl adhesive and then to the window or door with the gasket or self-adhesive strip.

The product has a specially designed reactive membrane whereby the sd value (water vapour permeability) changes depending on the humidity inside the joint.

This enables Duo E to perform as an intelligent seal for airtight internal joints, and weathertight, breathable external joints.

The intelligent system ensures that the joint dries out quickly, protecting against mould and moisture damage.
