Mactaggart and Mickel confirms contract wins
Mactaggart & Mickel
Modern methods of construction
Mactaggart and Mickel Timbers Systems has reported strong financial growth in recent months including more than GBP1.5m of new business contracts.
The company has won competitive tenders to develop two hotels on behalf of Whitbread Premier Inn to extend an existing hotel in Glenrothes and a new hotel and Beefeater restaurant at Newton Mearns.
The company has also won a housing contract on behalf of a national housebuilder on a site in Blairgowrie as well as a large extension in Strathblane for Bell Building Projects.
The business also continues to produce closed-panel frames and bathroom pods for Mactaggart and Mickel Homes across its central Scotland locations.
Timber Systems' one-stop-shop model means the team can erect a wind and watertight frame in one day.
The company has the capacity to deliver a project from land and design through production, erection, build, sales and aftercare.
Mactaggart and Mickel Timber Systems' modern methods of construction range from open and closed-panel timber frames and staircases to bespoke self-builds.
The company opened a second factory facility on Palacecraig Street in Coatbridge early this year doubling the capacity in response to growth.
The new site is being used to produce floor cassettes, cassette roofs and bathroom pods for the Glasgow 2014 Athletes' Village and to help meet demand from external contracts.
Mactaggart and Mickel Timber Systems plays a key role in the Group's drive towards its stringent carbon reduction targets.
Greater panel standardisation means reduced timber wastage; timber frames allow for greater flexibility in the choice of insulation products and factory manufacturing reduces the amount of material being transported to site.
