Sustainable Ireland Awards
The latest accolade from the Sustainable Ireland Awards is for the EC-Eau hot water cylinders and for the company’s research and development laboratory.
Silver award in the Sustainable Building Project of the Year category
Awarded for the laboratory in Portadown in Northern Ireland, responsible for much of the development work for the renewable heating and hot water technologies.
The building design inlcuded
- solar gain
- use of renewables for heating and hot water, lighting and waste management
Silver award for the Energy and Environmental Innovation category
Awarded to the EC-Eau range of unvented hot water cylinders.
It took over 15 months to develop and is now being manufactured in the company’s factory in the UK.
When developing the product a holistic view was taken, including:
- sustaining local employment
- utilising sustainable materials and manufacturing methods
- reducing overall product material content by intelligent design and material choices
- minimising waste in packaging and incoming raw materials

Heating company Dimplex has made a number of design improvements to its range of recessed air curtains. Improvements to the CAB air curtain range mean that there is no longer a requirement for accessory parts or kits. Furthermore, a smart new white finished linear vane grille has updated the look and the performance of the range has been enhanced. The company has also increased the range of performance options available for its architectural ARC range of air curtains.
Installers are invited to Dimplex’s half day seminars on the new Dimplex A Class high temperature, inverter-driven air source heat pumps and the all-in-one easy packages for installation.
Dimplex welcomed Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruling that their manufacturer’s claims regarding storage heating performance are accurate and realistic.
Dimplex makes life easier for installers with a new online tool to help calculate the heating requirements of a building and select the most appropriate heat pump and ancillary equipment.
Dimplex say Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) delays are ‘extremely disappointing’ and call on DECC to act to prevent a damaging hiatus in the market.
