Dimplex Renewables wins two more sustainability awards

Sustainable Ireland Awards

The latest accolade from the Sustainable Ireland Awards is for the EC-Eau hot water cylinders and for the company’s research and development laboratory.

Silver award in the Sustainable Building Project of the Year category

Awarded for the laboratory in Portadown in Northern Ireland, responsible for much of the development work for the renewable heating and hot water technologies.

The building design inlcuded

  • insulation
  • solar gain
  • use of renewables for heating and hot water, lighting and waste management

Silver award for the Energy and Environmental Innovation category

Awarded to the EC-Eau range of unvented hot water cylinders.

It took over 15 months to develop and is now being manufactured in the company’s factory in the UK. 

When developing the product a holistic view was taken, including:

  • sustaining local employment
  • utilising sustainable materials and manufacturing methods
  • reducing overall product material content by intelligent design and material choices
  • minimising waste in packaging and incoming raw materials

Karen Trewick, marketing communications manager, says: ’These latest awards are fantastic news for us and recognition of our commitment to this sector, following our multi-million pound investment in R&D and manufacturing facilities in the UK’.
