Honeywell staff raise cash for charity

Honeywell Control Systems

'fit a thermostat' campaign

Staff at Bracknell offices of heating control experts Honeywell have used the 'fit a thermostat' campaign to raise money for charity.

The day was organised to help staff understand how fitting a thermostat saves energy and helps reduce heating bills by up to GBP120* a year.

The day involved an office walk round handing out delicious thermostat themed cupcakes to tempt staff to buy raffle tickets to win the ultimate prize - a huge programmer shaped ice cake.

All the money collected from the raffle was then donated to Children In Need.

The aim of the day was to make employees aware that while the government is suggesting homeowners change energy suppliers, fitting a thermostat can actually save homeowners GBP10 a month on their energy bills, just by controlling their heating.

Andy Mansfield, marketing manager at Honeywell said: 'The awareness day was very encouraging, everyone got involved and we had tremendous support from all the team in the cake baking, including me! The raffle tickets sold like hot cakes and we generated interest to fit thermostats for 10% of the staff in the building.

'Around 8 million homes shockingly do not have a room thermostat fitted and this can save GBP120* a year on heating bills.

With heating and water making up of 84% of domestic energy expenditure, upgrading could not be easier'.

*The savings of up to GBP10 per month are based on a four bedroom, semi-detached house, using figures from TACMA (The Association of Controls Manufacturers).
