OFS T-200 steel bunded tank
Blake Group has delivered a 2,500Ltr OFS T-200 steel bunded tank for Essex and Suffolk Water, part of the Northumbrian Water group of companies.
Due to a complex arrangement of internal pipework which includes multiple shut of valves, bypass valve arrangement and an electronic solenoid valve, the purpose built steel tank has an extended bund to accommodate all additional fixtures and easy access.
Even with a relatively small primary tank capacity the OFTEC certified unit weighs approximately two tonnes and has been designed to provide back-up generator support for the Steven's Farm booster station located close to Rayleigh in Essex.
Blake Group has recently won the design and manufacture contract of a bespoke 18,000 Litre Bio-Diesel Steel Bunded Tank.
The Metframe pre-fabricated system from Metsec was specified to complete the complex design by architects Stride Treglown for a new 500-room student accommodation built on the site of an old print works in the centre of Exeter. The tight-site meant on-site fabrication was not an option for main contractor Morgan Sindall and approved Metframe installer, Atkin Trade Specialists.
Metsec used building information modelling (BIM) to develop cold rolled steel framing that helped to significantly reduce costs and waste for Galliford Try, the main contractor at the Smithfield market project in Manchester’s Northern Quarter which is a key part of the award-winning Smithfield regeneration scheme being delivered by Ician Developments. The specialist structural design included irregular facades on all sides.
Metsec’s External Walling System (MEWS) combines the company’s extensive experience of pre-panelised construction with the SFS continuous walling system. MEWS dramatically reduces time and on-site construction costs. Each panel is designed so it can be fixed to the primary frame using minimal fixing points ensuring there is zero waste on site.
