Sustainable decking range from Weyerhaeuser

Lyptus Decking is supplied in the UK by Woodlink UK and offers a fully certified alternative to many tropical species.

Hoppings will be incorporating Lyptus Decking as part of its existing Q-Deck range.

As the first hardwood product to be introduced to the Q-Deck portfolio, Lyptus Decking was selected based on proven environmental credentials and sustainability of supply.

Marketed by Hoppings as Q-Deck Lyptus, the product will be available as a stock item through the Essex and Surrey depots from 1 April 2011.

Lyptus Decking has been shown to achieve Durability Class 3, which has been verified by TRADA for use in the UK.

Lyptus Decking is manufactured from Lyptus lumber, which is produced in Brazil by Weyerhaeuser.

Grown on managed plantations, the trees used to manufacture Lyptus can be harvested within 14-16 years, compared to the 60 plus years it takes many tropical trees to mature.

This faster rate of growth facilitates the sustainability of supply, as the plantations can deliver a greater yield in a shorter space of time.

These plantations are fully certified to the national sustainable forestry standard, Cerflor, recognised by the international Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Lyptus Decking is part of a wider Lyptus product range available in the UK.
