Carpet Recycling celebrates ten years of waste recovery at Harrogate Flooring Show

  • 25 Jun 2018

Carpet Recycling UK will be showcasing ten years of resource recovery of waste carpet at the 2018 Harrogate Flooring Show in September.

In its 10th anniversary year, the association reports consistently higher numbers of enquiries from flooring companies that are keen to improve their efforts to divert carpet from landfill and to offer recycling services to their customers.

The show will offer retailers and contractors the opportunity to visit CRUK on stand M35 for more information on the work that it does, as well as support and advice, and the chance to join as new members.

CRUK Director Laurance Bird comments: “With strong on-going support from our core funders who are leading the way for sustainability within the carpet value chain, the reuse and recycling of waste carpet across the UK has continued to rise year on year since 2008 when CRUK was founded.”

Laurance added: “It is definitely worth returning to our stand for a chat and to find out which recycling options will work for you based on your geographical location, types of carpet waste and volumes. It also offers an opportunity to find out if compacting waste using a ‘carpet crusher’ is financially feasible.”

CRUK was founded in 2008 to tackle the 400,000 tonnes of waste carpet arising in the UK annually. The company welcomes enquiries from all types of organisations interested in finding new outlets for their waste carpet with potential savings on disposal costs.
