The one-day conference and awards ceremony is set to take place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham on Thursday July 5th, and will mark a decade for achievements and significant contributions by members who have all helped to achieve greater sustainability in the flooring sector.
The awards ceremony is open for entries now and will reward members’ environmental sustainability, innovation and success, in the categories Recycler of the Year; Reuse Member of the Year; Take Back Partner of the Year and Recycling Champion.
Speakers at the event include Bob Peoples, Executive Director of the US-based Carpet America Recovery Effort, who will highlight the company’s latest developments in solutions for the recycling and reuse of carpet waste. Dr Edmund Vankann of ECRA GUT will also be speaking at the conference, discussing the EU carpet industry’s environmental programme which will outline the development of a new Circular Carpet Platform in Europe to promote recycling and recover resources from carpet waste.
“Thanks to strong support and commitment from our Core Funders, members and the entire supply chain, landfill diversion of waste carpet over the past decade has risen from 2% to 42%,” comments CRUK Director Laurance Bird. “In celebrating this fantastic achievement, we hope we can inspire others to join us as we make great progress towards our goal of 60% landfill diversion by 2020.”
