The findings of the Retrofit for the Future’ study will be launched at the Retrofit Live event held at the Centre of Refurbishment Excellence (CoRE) next month and will include discuss the outcomes of the recent £17m programme. Over 200 delegates attended the event, which aimed to discuss ways in which the policy could progress, as well as examining how energy efficiency and carbon reductions can be achieved in existing non-domestic buildings.
Approximately 64% of carbon emissions were a result of electricity used and fossil fuels burned during the production process, whilst the presence of naturally occurring organic carbon in clays, or the thermal decomposition of limestone, chalk and fossils accounted for a total of 31%.
