Dow Building Solutions
As regulations around the thermal performance of buildings become tighter, effective insulation that can perform in demanding environments plays a vital role.
Dow Building Solutions offers insulation that enables construction of energy efficient buildings and supports The Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM and Passivhaus design criteria, as well as the Green Deal.
STYROFOAM-A extruded polystyrene (blue XPS foam) and XENERGY (grey XPS foam) have uniform closed cell structures and smooth surface 'skins', together with high compressive strength and low water absorption, resulting in long term insulation performance.
STYROFOAM-A and XENERGY foams use carbon dioxide as a blowing agent for an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero and a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than five.
Products manufactured with STYROFOAM-A include FLOORMATE-A for below-slab insulation, ROOFMATE SL-A for inverted roof insulation and PERIMATE DI-A for insulation of basement walls.
XENERGY SL is a new generation XPS for insulation of inverted flat roofs. XENERGY combines the proven features of STYROFOAM XPS - durability, reliability and strength - with better insulation performance thanks to infra-red blocking particles which scatter and reflect heat radiation within the foam board.
Dow Building Solutions also offers GREAT STUFF polyurethane foam sealant, FROTH-PAK polyurethane foam spray systems and INSTA-STIK polyurethane adhesives.

Dow Building Solutions has taken on new Commercial Director, Chris Gimson, to lead the insulation manufacturing company from February 2014.
The core range of Styrofoam-A and Xenergy thermal insulation products are now available as Building Information Modelling (BIM) objects through the National Building Specification (NBS) National BIM library or via the Dow Building Solutions website. BIM objects are also available for Floormate-A for below-slab insulation, Roofmate SL-A for inverted roof insulation, Roofmate LG-A for parapet insulation, and Perimate DI-A for insulation of basement walls.
A new guide is now available on making U-value calculations for inverted flat roofs. Written by Dr Steve Johnson, Technical Manager for insulation manufacturer Dow Building Solutions, the paper sets out the key factors including and location; design and declared lambda values; roof build up and potential condensation effects; as well as making corrections for rainwater cooling and moisture absorption.
STYROFOAM 150-A from Dow Building Solutions is a new multi-purpose insulation board that has been designed for use on smaller new build or refurbishment projects. The easy to install insulation boards measure 1,250 x 600mm and are available in 50, 75 and 100mm thicknesses. They are strong, moisture resistant and durable and can achieve a thermal conductivity as low as 0.033W/mk.
BBA accreditation has been awarded to Dow Building Solutions for its Styrofoam Roofmate SL-A extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation, designed for insulating inverted flat roofs. Roofmate SL-A is known as a top performing inverted roof insulation but BBA certification will give contractors extra confidence when specifying it.
