A total of 45,000 copies have been distributed nationwide since its launch in 2008, with the pocket sized book being regarded by contractors as essential reading in regards to specifying suitable smoke and CO alarms.
Updated for the BS 5839-6:2013 standard for domestic smoke alarm installations, the publication includes guidance on new sitting and alarm selection, as well as a variety of products launched by Aico.
The opening chapter of the book, Before You Start’ provides advice on factors to consider before an installation, such as different sensor options and their sustainability for areas within a property and types of alarm interconnection in the form of hard wiring and RadioLINK wireless interconnection.
The second chapter, What to Fit,’ explains about the different products on offer and the solutions they provide, whilst a System Set Up’ section has been included, split in to sections including How to House Code’ and How to Test’ alarms, with instructions and information.
The full range of Aico products is provided in the Handybook, including the Ei2110 Multi-Sensor, the Ei60RC and new Ei140RC Series alarms, CO alarms and range of accessories.
The recently launched Ei450 Alarm Controller is designed to allow residents to test and silence all alarms on the system and identify and locate the unit which has triggered the alarm from one convenient location.
A What to Fit Where’ guide has been incorporated in the Firecap section on passive or intumescent fire stopping systems, now including gaskets and trunking sleeve products.
The Handybook is colour coded into different sections and features simple diagrams for quick reference, checklists, do’s and don’ts, frequently asked questions and fire statistics.
