The free half-day event will take place at Weymouth Community Safety Centre in Weymouth Dorset.
It has been developed to educate building owners and facilities managers about their legal responsibilities regarding fire door safety.
At the event, Shaun will speak about considerations around the specification, installation and maintenance of architectural ironmongery for fire doors.
Other speakers include the Head of Fire Safety DFRS, Andy Fox, who will touch on the subject of Fire Protection: is it enough?’
FDIS’ General Manager, Neil Ashdown will explain about Fire Doors and the Law, and Jeremy French, a Certificated Fire Door Inspector, will provide an overview of Fire Door Inspections.
Fire doors are used in commercial premises and some domestic buildings such as flats and University halls of residents, to compartmentalise the property.
This reduces the spread of fire or smoke, whilst still providing a means of escape for those inside the building.
Under article 17 of the Fire Safety Order, it is a legal requirement that fire resisting doors and escape doors are correctly installed and maintained to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
GEZE UK’s own range of overhead door closers and automatic swing door drives have been awarded fire certification after withstanding rigorous testing.
