Cleaner energy and cost reduction for construction industry

Firefly Hybrid Power Generator

UK government targets for cleaner energy and cost reductions by 2025 means:

  • 50 per cent reduction in emissions
  • 33 per cent reduction in costs to deliver projects

Firefly’s Cygnus HPG is a clean energy storage solution for construction sites that integrates a range of power sources to:

  • optimise energy efficiency
  • reduce fuel costs
  • cut emissions

Rugged and robust

Cygnus HPGs are designed for a wide range of temporary power applications, offering a seamless, dependable, efficient base load management, renewable primary supply, and UPS for contractors.

Silent, emission free power

In many situations, diesel generators are used to supply very low loads overnight on site, which is not only extremely inefficient but can also raise concerns over noise levels during unsociable hours. For a typical 100kva diesel set, as much as 120 Litres could be burnt unnecessarily each night. Firefly’s Cygnus HPG can eliminate this waste and provide silent, emission free power.

By connecting a Cygnus HPG to an existing diesel generator on site, contractors

  • save thousands in fuel costs and hundreds of tonnes in CO2 emissions
  • residents near the site benefit from silent power overnight

Reduced runtime of on site generators

Contractors can also reduce the runtime of on site generators by as much as half and see a decrease in particulate (PM10), carbon and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions of up to 50 per cent.

Reducing the runtime of diesel generators reduces the chances of mechanical breakdown and smoking from running at low load.

Andy Mead, Director and Founder of Firefly said, “Working with our customers and listening to market needs of the Construction industry has been the key to the success of the range. The result is a fleet of HPGs that can be easily integrated to work alongside existing diesel generators”.

London plans to become the first city in the world to introduce standards for construction machinery, to cut emissions from machines used on sites across the capital by 40% by 2020.HPGs will play a vital role in this and cut particulate (PM10) and NOx emissions.

Firefly’s Cygnus range of HPGs are very popular addition to plant hirer fleets in the construction sector, as they recognise the proven savings and future regulations Speedy Hire, Mather Stuart, PE Generators and Premier Plant are working with the top UK contractors to provide Cygnus HPGs.

Andy Mead concluded: “The range’s ease of integration means that plant hirers do not need to make any changes to their core diesel fleet of generators and can now benefit from additional revenue following an investment in cutting-edge hybrid power.”
