Philips looks to new OLED applications
Philips Lighting
Lumiblade
Philips Lighting has recently announced new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) applications, which were on show at a special exhibit in Milan in April.
In its new Lumiblade range, Philips features a large variety of OLED components in various sizes and colours, and shapes that include bars, circles, leaves and blossoms.
According to Philips, Lumiblade is a new way of using and working with light.
The first breakthrough Lumiblade applications are expected within this and next year.
'The OLED technology is available, but the opportunities they present go much further than lamps,' said Kristin Knappstein, business development manager at Philips Lighting.
'OLEDs are actually a kind of building block - a new type of magic material - that can be combined with others to produce a striking new and creative whole.
'OLEDs in clothing, furniture, vehicles, jewelry, works of art: the possibilities are endless,' she added.
