JDP RAINBOX attenuation system provides solution for 10-acre office development

  • 4 Jul 2017

A new 10-acre cutting edge office development just outside Durham is incorporating a RAINBOX 3S attenuation system from JDP.

The site will be home to a new IT, data and marketing centre for wholesaler, City Electrical Factors.

The project was designed by Falkner Browns Architects, with the main contract for the project build awarded to Sir Robert McAlpine. Joyce Construction & Civils were subcontracted to implement the ground works package.

Joyce Construction & Civils asked JDP to design and supply an effective storm water drainage management solution which could hold excess run off from the site during storms and protect the new facility.

The JDP technical team proposed a storm management system incorporating the RAINBOX 3S geocellular system, because of the flexibility and sustainability features of the crates. JDP supplied 300m3 of rainbow 3S crates.

The RAINBOX 3S system consists of two half-boxes and a centre plate delivered flat-packed to site for easy transportation and assembly.

The product has a high void ration to maximise storage volume and is recommended for light and medium loading class usage.

Lightweight and offering speed of installation and reducing transport costs, the RAINBOX 3S reduces material costs and maintenance costs in comparison to traditional alternatives.

JDP provides various products to create an effective water management system including flow controls and orifice plates, pump statins, permeable and non-permeable membranes, protection fleeces, silt traps and drainage pipework and inspection chambers.
