Transforming a 1960s sink estate into integrated, uplifting, urban community.

  • £130-million, 8-year scheme
  • mixed-tenure housing
  • replaces 538 structurally defective flats with 791 energy-efficient houses and flats
  • facilities to include an energy centre, workshops, youth centre and retail units

Stannah’s ‘Access for All’ policy

  • Phase 1 – five Stannah passenger lifts in 2010
  • Phase 2 – two further lifts in in 2012
  • Phase 3 – five 8-person Xtralifts help residents access their apartment homes ranged over 6 – 7 floors in four new buildings

The three simplex control and two duplex control passenger lifts are traction driven at a speed of 1.0 m/s in wall-mounted shafts measuring 1650W x 1835D.

The lift car interiors are finished in satin stainless steel or silver-grey vinyl skinplate, with silver rear wall mirrors, handrails and black-studded, non-slip PVC floors.

Optional extras include vandal-resistant reinforced cars, heavy-duty doors, tamper-proof LED ceiling lights and autodiallers.

Stannah has also supplied and installed passenger lifts in Phases I and 2 of this redevelopment, with four further lifts scheduled to be installed during Phase 4, totalling 16 lifts over the first four phases.

Stannah can deliver passenger lifts in social housing across the UK, working to individual specification.

4 years service cover

Both the existing and latest five installed passenger lifts are covered by Stannah’s comprehensive 4 years service cover, which includes 24 hour breakdown cover and 12 service visits, with the continued lift maintenance.
