KNX UK is the national association that promotes both KNX technology and its members within the United Kingdom. The organisation consists of KNX product manufacturers, systems integrators, training providers, user groups and specialist wholesalers. The association aims to ensure that KNX technology is the first choice for consultants, architects, engineers and installers in the development of intelligent buildings in both the residential and commercial sectors.
KNX is a simple system for intelligent electrical installation networking. A KNX bus cable combines devices and systems and new functions can be easily added in the future as the needs of occupants change and extra functionality is required.
KNX products are used to build intelligent integrated building control solutions for domestic and commercial applications. As a result, owners, residents, or managers of these properties have control over the everyday working or living environment. This can cover all building services such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, security and metering as well as the operation of blinds, electrical appliances, windows, facades, AV/sound systems and many other functions.
The KNX seminar at The Lowry, Manchester, called ’BS EN 15232 – The Impact of Building Automation on Energy Efficiency’, is for building professionals including consultants, building services engineers, building managers/owners and architects. The seminar will look at how to achieve Class A energy building performance and the role KNX intelligent building technology in providing the optimum solution to support BS EN 15232.
KNX intelligent building controls are now in use at The Crystal, a Sustainable Cities Initiative by Siemens. KNX helped the building - a new conference centre, urban dialogue platform and technology & innovation centre - achieve top BREEAM and LEED ratings for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. KNX is the world’s only open standard for all applications in home and building control.
The selection of KNX reflected the global trend in home and building technology where KNX is the only worldwide standardised bus technology.
The KNX UK Association is holding a free of charge one-day Technical Workshop on The Development of Technical Devices.
Broadgate West in London features Lightrak KNX lighting control, supplied by KNX UK member Electrak, part of the Legrand Group.
