Aperio wireless escutcheons have been installed to improve security at Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool.
The university hospital has issued a £35 million refurbishment of its A&E department to improve the standard of health care for the residents of North Merseyside and its surrounding areas.
With approximately 154,000 accident and emergency cases each year, the refurbished facility required security and access control to expand public access, whilst safeguarding sensitive areas housing confidential paperwork and medication.
Certain restrictions had to be maintained to ensure the protection of expensive medical equipment and patient documentation.
Grantfen was contracted to provide an Inner Range unified platform, integrated with ASSA ABLOY Access Control’s Aperio escutcheons, for the development.
ASSA ABLOY Access Control boasts a wealth of experience in the healthcare sector, having supplied its security systems for a range of public sector-funded projects.
Offering a cost-effective alternative to a wired security solution, the Aperio escutcheons were able to upgrade access control at Aintree Hospital upon installation. Eliminating the need to modify the hospital’s existing doors, the escutcheons were fitted without disrupting operations within the live building.
