Ruth Aram

This years gallery of British design features Ruth Arams Aldwych No 1 Console.

The console is part of the Aldwych collection; the first pieces were manufactured from sweet chestnut wood, which was reclaimed

from an old building opposite Aram Store.

Ruth, who worked closely with furniture manufacturers as a buyer for Aram Store, made her first venture into furniture design with this collection.

Jaime Hayon for LLadro

LLadros The Guest project has also been dubbed as one to look out for at the May Design Series.

The project has invited designers from across the globe to create their own character, making use of LLadros handmade porcelain to represent their personal universe.

After securing a place in Time Magazines list of 100 most relevant creators, Jaime Hayon collaborated with Japanese studio, Devilrobots, and American artist, Tim Biskup, to create the first versions of the character.

Rug-Maker.com

Founded in the late 1980s, Rug-Maker.com utilises silk and wool to bring its contemporary handwoven rug designs to life.

Ptolomy Manns collection has been particularly praised for its vivid, geometric style; her love of quality and colour has also been highly commended by critics.

Dubbed as modern, yet timeless, the collection is on display at the May Design Week, along with Rug-Maker.coms other creations.
