Natural wood wool acoustic panels reduce noise pollution at new ice rink

  • 4 Jul 2017

A new ice skating rink in Ørestad, Copenhagen, has been fitted with Troldtekt natural wood wool acoustic panels to reduce sound reverberation.

Ice skating rinks are often noisy buildings, set in large spaces with hard surfaces that exacerbate echoes and everyday sounds, such as general conversations.

Considering this, Ørestad’s new ice skating rink, which has been designed by architects Christensen & Co, has been fitted with natural wood wool acoustic panels from Troldtekt.

Developed to improve acoustic performance in commercial, public and private spaces, Troldtekt’s panels are manufactured from organic products that offer high sound absorption and natural breathability. The range has achieved Cradle to Cradle certification at silver level, guaranteeing its sustainability.

For the ceiling in the heated part of the ice rink, the panels provide a natural surface that contrasts with the cold, crystalline rink and the warm club facilities.

The City of Copenhagen invested additional funds to ensure the project was eco-friendly, in both its construction and day-to-day operations.

The natural wood wool acoustic panels are available for specification throughout the UK and Europe, in various sizes. They are available in three grades, from ultrafine to coarse, and can be painted in any RAL colour or left untreated.
