Inviron's new 3 year maintenance contract on Greater Manchester Police Stations.

Involvement on the Greater Manchester Police Authority's PFI building project, by building systems and service business Inviron, has been extended with the award of a new contract for the maintenance of M and E services, building controls, public health, and additional support services such as fabric maintenance The £340k, three-year contract, comes into effect as the gradual handover takes place from M and E service installation to maintenance on no less than 16 of the police stations

A field of bidders for the contract was narrowed down to two by competitive tender, and Inviron became preferred bidder after a series of interviews.

Inviron's relationships with prime facilities management contractor Equion Facilities Management Ltd and prime building contractor Laing O'Rourke have always been good, and strengthened further as the GMPA project has progressed.

Inviron's M and E design and installation team was on the project from an early stage, and its teamwork and relationship building have been passed on to colleagues within the facilities management and service team.

Inviron's continued presence at the work place has added benefits in that the facilities management team is well placed to ensure contractor's warranties are maintained to the highest standards.

The police stations are built on brown field sites around Greater Manchester at a total cost of over £70 million, and most will replace existing police stations for the Authority.

The scope of the initial contract, which started in December 2002 and is scheduled for completion in March 2005, includes the design, management, engineering installation and the commissioning of M and E and public health facilities at all the stations.

In addition Inviron's Open Systems business was awarded the contract to supply the Building Management System (BMS) for HVAC in the stations.

Inviron's Facilities Management and Service Director, Keith Gilliver, comments: 'Our full participation on this project from day one has promoted excellent working relationships with all relevant parties, and this in turn has helped Inviron provide a virtually seamless transmission from initial M and E design and installation to ongoing facilities management and service.'.
