New HVAC Automation Provides Seamless Connectivity
ABB's drives for the HVAC sector are now supported by software drivers for the Compass protocol conversion system, from North Communications.
Inviron was awarded the work because of its unrivalled reputation in delivering fast-track contracts 'on-time' and a willingness to work closely with Bibby to develop solutions to suit various environmental requirements.
This took place as the client was negotiating with a number of potential customers.
The scope of the refurbishment, overseen by Inviron senior project manager Tom Connor, included: the design and installation of new HVAC systems for the vessel's atriums; upgrading the HVAC systems serving the accommodation and kitchen; and the installation of the electrical supply serving the various systems.
Built in 1976 at New Ross, Ireland, the vessel was built as the oil rig supply barge Viking Barge 1 and in 1990 was converted into an accommodation unit and renamed Bibby Progress.
She has accommodation for 684 persons in 155 rooms.
Her facilities include a kitchen, restaurant, bars, conference facilities, two passenger lifts and laundries.
With the refurbishment work complete, Bibby Progress is set to take up station in Sardinia on her latest charter.
