Abloy Security secures E.ON

High performance Protec padlocks, cylinders and locks from Abloy Security are being installed on gates, fences and doors across the Central Networks East region of E.ON.

High performance Protec padlocks, cylinders and locks from Abloy Security are being installed on gates, fences and doors across the Central Networks East region of E.ON This two-year contract is part of an ongoing programme to upgrade physical security throughout E.ON's distribution network, which brings electricity to 4.9 million customers across central England - from the Peak District in the north to the outskirts of Bristol in the south, and from the Welsh Borders in the west to the Lincolnshire Coast in the east

Protecting the 25,000 sub-stations throughout the East region against unauthorised access is key to maintaining continuity of supply.

The company has a mix of operational sites - including grid, primary, distribution (typically located on or near street corners) and consumer sub-stations - with different levels of authorised access and security requirements.

Central Networks Civils and Building Specialist Keith Nutter explained some of the thinking behind the company's choice of security and access control product provider: "We were looking for a company that could provide a range of high security locking and access control solutions, and selected Abloy Security because of their experience, reputation and proven quality of their products".

The contract started with the purchase of high performance Protec padlocks, cylinders and locks to secure gates, fences, compounds and buildings of new operational sites.

It has since been followed by a refurbishment programme covering the balance of E.ON's Central Networks East sub-station estate, the majority of which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2006. Request a free brochure from Abloy UK ...
