Access control product for SMEs

IFSEC 2008 sees leading security and access control company, Abloy UK showcasing a host of its new products - including an access control product specifically aimed at SMEs.

Plus, the company will be unveiling the concept behind its innovative education and training initiative - the Academy - due to officially launch late summer 2008 Ideally suited to smaller sites, Smartair is an off-line access control system

Offering the protection of a technologically sophisticated and accurate access control system for a fraction of the price and without the need for a more complex on-line system - which can be expensive and time-consuming to maintain - it is perfect for any installers who are not specifically access control specialists.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) contactless chip technology in the reader and card means this system is extremely durable and requires minimal maintenance.

Smartair has excellent vandal-resistant properties because all the control elements, except for the reader, are located on the inner side of the door.

The system also utilises the popular Mifare card technology.

It is an extremely versatile, off-line access control option which can be fitted to internal or external doors with contemporary design, stainless steel construction and compatibility with a variety of handles and mortice locks.

Supplied in a range of finishes, Smartair is also available with an electronic privacy function - which can be activated from the inside and will only allow access by specifically authorised cards.

Due to launch in summer 2008, IFSEC visitors will be the first to see Abloy's plans for its education and training initiative - the Academy.

The Academy will be based at Abloy's head office and is designed to bridge the gap of knowledge between locksmiths, access control installers and architectural ironmongers.

Focussing on the standards security systems are required to meet and how these can be achieved as easily as possible by the installers - the Academy is aimed at bringing consistency to the skill set offered by all those involved in the installation and specification of security equipment.

The Abloy UK IFSEC stand will also host a diverse range of its other new and innovative products including:.

- VEGA cabinet locks - a new range of locks for glass and wooden cabinets.

- EL590 / EL490 - new electric motor locks.

- DA460 door operator - a power open and power close door operator.

- EL520 Exit Kit - an EN1125-compliant motor lock and panic bar combination.

- PROTEC Cliq - a cylinder offering electronic encryption and audit trail. Request a free brochure from Abloy UK ...
