Abloy installs custom security system at college

An Abloy UK product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 25, 2009

Assa Abloy has supplied a bespoke security and access system for an educational building.

The system has been integrated across existing and newly built buildings at Chase Terrace Technology College in Staffordshire, following serious fire damage.

The security system features electromagnetic hold-open units installed throughout the corridor doors, which reduce wear and tear on the doors and door closers.

If required, they also permit the doors to be individually locked.

In the event of fire, they will automatically close the door.

All classroom doors were fitted with stainless-steel door furniture and classroom escape locks to protect against forced entry and to provide an exit if required.

Assa Abloy installed master key systems creating departmental pass groups and floor sub masters, allowing key holders to move freely.

The system was designed so that further buildings could be added to the college at a later date.
