ACO Technologies introduces its stabilising fabric

An ACO Technologies product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 16, 2009

ACO Technologies has developed a stabilising membrane for use with its ground reinforcement system, improving integrity and drainage.

ACO Stabilisation Fabric is a non-woven separation membrane manufactured from a UV stabilised polypropylene geotextile.

The fabric is designed to work with the ACO Groundguard ground reinforcement system.

The fabric improves the integrity and drainage performance of ACO Groundguard's porous, high load bearing surface.

ACO Stabilisation Fabric is suitable for residential applications such as parking areas, access routes and pathways, and reduces overall installed cost.

By installing the fabric above and below the sub-base layer, aggregate migration during settlement is virtually eliminated.

The total aggregate volume required can be lowered by up to 25 per cent, cutting installation time and improving the stability of the finished installation.

The fabric layers also help improve long-term drainage performance by protecting the permeability of the sub-base structure.

Rain and surface water penetrates through to the underlying soil quickly which is a key factor in designing successful Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS).

The fabric barriers can help to suppress weed growth, reducing maintenance costs and preserving the high quality surface finish of landscaped areas.

A single roll of the 2m wide ACO Stabilisation Fabric covers the same 20m2 area as a pallet of ACO Groundguard.

Peter Ridgway, market development director at ACO Technologies said: "Porous landscaping surfaces such as ACO Groundguard are increasingly being used to meet the sustainable drainage requirements of new residential planning legislation".

"The cost and installation benefits of incorporating the new Stabilisation Fabric into their design will see such systems being increasingly specified across wider and more diverse applications".
