Aconex to service London school developments
Aconex will provide its online information management service to the London Borough of Hackney's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
Each BSF project will involve the flow of a large volume of information - such as drawings, building plans, tenders, workflows, and correspondence - between Hackney and its network of project partners, consultants, internal Council stakeholders, schools and bid teams.
Effective communication and management of this data will be vital to ensuring each project is completed on time and budget.
The traditional process of managing project information is by using a combination of paper documents, couriers, filing cabinets, faxes and emails.
These methods can be time consuming, expensive and open to human error.
Aconex replaces these inefficient processes by managing project data online through one central site.
This enables project team members to view, track and share documents at any time, and from any location, and ensures information is securely stored and fully traceable.
By initially using Aconex on the bid phase of their BSF programme, Hackney expects to benefit from: increased control through centralising information; increased productivity through easier collaboration; reduced administrative costs such as couriers, printing and stationery; and reduced exposure to risks such as information loss and outdated documents.
The London Borough of Hackney BSF Team said: "Efficiency is king for our BSF programme, and we are keen to use tools and techniques that help us manage our project most effectively".
Aconex Regional Manager Europe, Yuval Attias, said: "The BSF projects will generate thousands of documents and pieces of correspondence that need to be shared between stakeholders; Aconex is the ideal solution for managing this complex flow of information".
Aconex is one of the world's leading providers of collaboration technology and currently services 30,000 companies across 40 countries.
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is a £40 billion government investment programme that aims to refurbish or replace every secondary school in England by 2020.
