Aconex has been selected by Novate Property Investments to provide its online information management service to the company's US$17 million Triple Point Phase 1 project in East London, South Africa.

Aconex will provide a web-based platform for managing project information such as drawings, documents and correspondence Through using the system, Novate Property Investments and its project partners will be able to view, share and track their files in real-time, from any location and at any time

This will reduce the time and cost associated with using paper documents and will streamline communication between companies.

Klinton Pretorius of Novate Property Investments said: "Due to its complexity and the interfacing requirements between the various professional consultants and disciplines, the project required a collaboration system.

We needed the system to be easily accessible, easy to use, comprehensive and secure.

Documentation needs to be made selectively available to the various team members to view, comment on and approve, whether they are within South Africa or abroad.

"Aconex provides this facility and feedback from all consultants involved has been very positive.

Being able to review and approve designs, specifications and costs saves on massive amounts of man hours and certainly, from a developers perspective, Aconex is proving to be cost efficient".

Triple Point will be East London's largest private development to date and will be the first mixed use development in the Province, integrating residential, commercial and leisure facilities.

The total development will include: three apartment buildings, each with 72 units; a river-front estate with 35 homes; a 100-room four-star hotel; 10,000m2 of retail and life-style facilities; and 10,000 m2 of office space.

The first phase, which includes the construction of bulk services for the entire precinct and the construction of the Moya apartment block, is currently forecasted for completion in April 2009 and the whole development is expected to be complete by 2012.

Aconex is the world's largest provider of online collaboration to the construction and engineering industries.

The company services $210 billion worth of projects across 60 countries.

Other projects using the system include the King Shaka International Airport and the Moses Madhiba Stadium in Durban.
