Established in 1984, Admas is also accredited by UKAS to ISO 17020 and ISO 17025 for asbestos surveying, identification and fibre counting.
Their accreditation includes the sampling of a wide range of pollutants in both ambient environments and emission stacks.
Specialising in several diverse fields such as construction, asbestos removal works, manufacturing and local authority work, Admas 's most recent clients have included major players such as Leeds City Council, Bullock Construction and South Yorkshire Laboratories.
The company's application for CHAS accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.
Linda Oakes, one of the directors at Admas, stated "We recognised a need to be able to demonstrate our excellent approach to Health and Safety, as well as Quality issues and hence gain accreditation which would be widely accepted within the diverse industries and sectors in which we operate".
CHAS accreditation is expected to enhance the company's ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.
Local authority health and safety and contract professionals, supported by the Health and Safety Executive, have developed the Contractor Health and Safety (CHAS) Assessment Scheme over recent years.
It is now available for any public sector organisation to use in their pre-qualification process for contractor application for approved/select list or short-listing.
It provides information relating to the health and safety element of the application only.
