Unidrain for new possibilities in wet-room design
New linear drain, the first ever to be locatable against a wall, is now available in the UK and Ireland through design and installation specialist, Advanced Wetrooms.
The company has announced a partnership with Danish company Unidrain - the manufacturers of the first ever wall-positioned drain, which allows unrestricted flexibility in wet-room design.
The partnership gives Advanced Wetrooms sole distribution rights for the Unidrain range in the UK and Ireland.
Jane Sharp, Advanced Wetrooms' UK sales manager explains; "This stainless steel drain was designed by a Danish architect who was increasingly frustrated at the limitations imposed on his designs by traditional systems - more often than not requiring numerous slopes and a centrally located drain".
""Essentially, Unidrain has moved the drain.
Traditional systems must always be placed away from the walls but the Unidrain's patented vertical wall flanges, which form a waterproof interface to the wall has changed all that.
"It is an exciting new product that provides installers, specifiers, designers and their clients, with a solution that allows for both easier installation and greater aesthetic appeal".
Unidrain has already been specified into several luxury residential projects in the UK, including Royal Connaught Park by Comer Homes.
Unidrain aims to set a new standard in floor drains with the following benefits:.
- Single-sided floor slope.
- No cutting of tiles required.
- Easier and more reliable installation.
- Reliable and precise fastening.
- Waterproof interface to wall.
- Faster construction process.
- Fewer defects.
- Better build quality.
- Stronger aesthetic appeal.
- Various sizes and styles.
Jane Sharp continues: "This is a major opportunity in wet-room and bathroom design, as I believe that the design and function will change the status of floor drains from simply being a hole in the floor to becoming a new design element in any building or refurbishment project".
Unidrain is the market-leader in the Nordic countries - the pioneers of wet-room technology.
Unidrain was developed in close co-operation with the Danish construction industry's leading research authorities, the Danish Technology Institute and SBi.
Unidrain complies with all applicable norms for drainage systems, including the EN 1253 common European standard.
