Passivhaus expert to headline at AECB
conference
The AECB (the sustainable building association) believes that Passivhaus building design should be central to UK's approach to 'low carbon' homes.
The AECB's annual conference on 13-14th June 2008 will offer the chance to hear one of the world's leading experts on Passivhaus design Dr Berthold Kaufmann from the Passivhaus Institute in Germany will be the keynote speaker as well as running workshops outlining the key aspects of Passivhaus design

AECB CarbonLite Programme
AECB: The sustainable building association, congratulates the government on its ambitious green agenda for new homes and the aim for zero carbon homes by 2016.
Earlier this year the AECB launched its CarbonLite Programme - which offers comprehensive training and practical guidance in designing and constructing low carbon building, based on Passivhaus principles.
The AECB conference will feature some workshops based on the CarbonLite Programme as well as offering two CPD CarbonLite training modules - 'Energy in Buildings' and 'CarbonLite in Practice' at the same venue but on the day preceding the conference (12th June).
Workshops are also planned for the conference on: Window design - latest thinking in design, materials and installation; Psi values and using THERM software; Uses of lime in larger buildings; and the new WISE building at the Centre for Alternative Technology.
There will also be a chance to hear Will Anderson, journalist and author of 'Diary of an EcoBuilder', speak at the conference on the effects of climate change on building design.
The conference is being held at the University of East Anglia - offering delegates the chance to look around some of the campus' award-winning buildings including the Elizabeth Fry Building - an excellent example of low carbon design.
There will also be opportunities for delegates to exhibit/ display examples of their own work in relation to sustainable building.
The conference is open to all AECB members.
