Users of machinery in heavy-duty mining and quarrying processes who need to cut downtime for maintenance are turning to casted wear protection blocks from Ace Arc

Users of machinery in heavy-duty mining and quarrying processes who need to cut downtime for maintenance are increasingly turning to an ultra thick protection product Casted wear protection blocks are marketed in the UK by Ace Arc, the Leicestershire-based international supplier of products for the mining, quarrying and recycling industries

Designed and manufactured in Australia, these hardened steel components fit together in a variety of configurations, depending upon the application, to provide an extra-tough alternative to Ace Arc's range of wearplate.

Ace Arc believes they are particularly relevant in applications where there is limited opportunity for regular maintenance.

Managing director Frank Fairbrother says: "Wear protection blocks are a premium product but in the right application, they can save a lot of money as the cost is offset by the wear life".

He gives the example of a chute application where getting in to do maintenance means stopping the entire plant.

"In that environment, the ware protection blocks could allow the operator to restrict the maintenance to once a year or even once every two years".

"Once you have invested in them, you get a long spell of maintenance free protection.".
