Big surge in demand for AFI Training Courses
AFI Aerial Platforms have reported a big surge in demand for their powered access, mobile access tower and safety harness training courses.
Rasim Dervisevic, RAI Conference and Banqueting Manager, who was one of the members of staff trained by AFI, said: "We are using the scissor lift for a wide range of tasks, including putting up speakers and lighting or hanging banners and screens in certain areas of the building.
"We previously used ladders but it's far quicker and safer to use a powered access machine.
Before it was a two person job to hang screens etc, but with the scissor lift one person can do it.
Using a scissor lift also ensures that we meet the requirements of the Work At Height regulations which state that you should carry out risk assessments and consider whether safer forms of access are available as alternatives to ladders." RAI opted for the Genie 19/30 because at just 30 inches wide it can easily go through doorways in Saviles Hall.
The ex-AFI fleet machine was supplied newly painted, serviced, tested and with new batteries.
