AFI-Uplift acquire a further powered access rental business, Central Access , just weeks after acquiring North East Access

With a fleet of 140 boom and scissor lifts operating from a depot at Newstead, near Nottingham, Central Access has a strong local customer base The company was formed in 1998

AFI Corporate Development Director Nick Selley said: "This acquisition will significantly strengthen our operations in the East Midlands and, as a result, will further boost our national depot network, which now has over 4,300 machines".

The Central Access and North East Access acquisitions follow AFI's merger with Uplift Power Platforms and the acquisition of Alan Drew Limited in 2006.

As one of the UK's fastest-growing powered access rental companies, AFI's turnover has grown significantly year on year - it will exceed GBP30 million this year, compared with GBP20 million in the previous year.

The company's current depot network takes in Birmingham, East Midlands, Haydock, Hull, Liverpool, London East, London South, London West, Manchester, Milton Keynes, North East, Peterborough, Scotland, South Wales, South West, Southampton and Wakefield.
