Charcon Hard Landscaping, an Aggregate Industries business, has supplied materials to landscape architect, LiZLaKe for Capital Square, a mixed-use development in Chelmsford, Essex.

The scheme of 108 luxury apartments, retail units and day nursery is built around two landscaped courtyards and has been designed to create a calm communal space for residents as well as the wider community Landscape architect, Alistair Bayford knew Charcon's products would suit the scheme's look and feel

He explains: "Charcon has a wide range of products that were ideal for creating the look and feel we wanted".

"By working closely together we were able to build an area that was not only pleasing to the eye but comfortable and inviting".

Reflecting the high quality courtyard, over one hundred linear meters of Charcon's Courtyard Classic Wide Top Kerb was used with 100m of Andover Silver Grey and 90m of Andover Cream.

Since completion, the area has won a number of housing and landscaping awards including the What House Gold Award for Best Landscape Design and the BALI Mainly Hard Landscaping for over GBP50,000 Award, where the scheme was described by the judges as a 'stunning urban courtyard'.

Mr Bayford concludes: "Charcon's products perfectly reflected our primary objective for the space".

"We wanted to create a high quality and safe fountain courtyard that would compliment the surrounding architecture".

"By utilising Charcon's wide product range, that is exactly what we managed".

"It is always exciting to be recognised for your work, but the real winners are the residents of Capital Square.".
