Building block products receive commendation

Masterblock, an Aggregate Industries business, has been highly commended for its sustainable Enviroblock range at this year's Housebuilding Innovation Awards 2008.

Masterblock's Enviroblock range of environmentally engineered building block products was recognised in the 'Housing Product of the Year' category.

Designed as a sustainable range of building blocks that raise the bar in the industry, the Enviroblock range is manufactured from selected waste raw materials and contains more than 90 per cent recycled or secondary aggregate materials to ensure the highest-quality product for architects and specifiers.

Accredited by the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) and EcoHomes schemes that coincide with government targets for sustainable construction, Enviroblock has already been certified for its environmental performance in the Building Research Establishment (BRE) Environmental Profiles Scheme, and has achieved an 'A' rating in The Green Guide to Housing Specification.
