Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 29, 2009

Aggregate Industries has achieved a place in the Sunday Times Green List 2009 for the second year running.

The company has received the accolade for its pioneering approach to environmental practices throughout the business.

The judges' highlights included Aggregate Industries' recycling of all used oil, wood and scrap metal and the company's aim to eliminate the need for any waste to be sent to landfill by 2012.

Other achievements include a 16 per cent increase in the amount of concrete recycled, an 11 per cent reduction in water consumption and a five per cent reduction in the level of waste produced.

Bill Bolsover, Chief Executive of Aggregate Industries, commented: "The Best Green Companies list is gaining momentum and I'm delighted that we've held our place with stiffening competition".

"By taking part and being tested not only by others but by our own people shows how committed to the environment we remain in these challenging economic times.
