Aico Expands Best-Selling Firecap Range

In the event of fire, the gasket automatically expands to seal against the passage of fire and smoke from one compartment to another.
Designed to comply with the requirements of Building Regulations and IEEE Regulations BS.7671, the new gaskets have been independently tested for fire resistance to meet the requirements of BS.476: Pt20 and Pt22.
Claimed to be both economical and simple to install, Firecap Gaskets are non-toxic and root proof, and no maintenance is required.
Suitable holes can easily be made in the gasket during installation for cable run requirements.
As a further safety precaution, the gaskets are insulated with PVC to obviate the risk of any electrical short circuit due to the graphite content of this type of material.
Also new from Aico is the Firecap range of Fire Protection Pillows, designed to create a temporary or permanent barrier around all types of services to prevent the passage of fire through a compartment wall or door.
Aico says that they are both easy to install and offer long life.
Suitable for both indoor and outdoor locations up to one square metre, Firecap Pillows are ideal for use where services are continuously being changed or replaced and offer a minimum fire integrity of 60 minutes.
Fire resistance has been tested in accordance with BS.476: Pt 20 and Pr 22 1987.
Firecap Pillows are filled with organic fillers and intumescent additives with a waterproof glass cloth bag on the outside.
Available in small, medium and large sizes, they are both non-combustible and non-toxic and remain flexible between -20 to +130C.
Aico's Firecap range also includes the best-selling Firecap Fire Protection Covers for use with downlights and fluorescent modules in recessed lighting for both fire and acoustic protection applications.
