The new Firecap Duct Wrap sleeve is designed to restore the fire integrity of a wall, floor or ceiling by preventing this from happening.
In the event of fire, the material swells to over three times its original size and crushes the duct completely, sealing it and preventing flames or smoke from being able to pass through.
The sleeve is designed to be a Universal item and therefore one size can be used on all common sizes of PVC rectangular ducting.
Each sleeve comes complete with a self adhesive strip designed to hold the sleeve around the duct during fitting, which can be achieved in a matter of seconds.
The wall should then be 'made good' around the wrap using a non-combustible filler, such as cement mortar.
Two sleeves can be used to ensure complete protection on larger ducting with the smallest dimension over 54mm, but below 90mm.
The Firecap Duct Wrap Sleeve can be fitted during the installation of the duct or retrofitted wherever existing ducting and the resulting breach has created a fire hazard.
