Kerrier Homes Standardises On Ei Alarms From AICO
Kerrier Homes Trust has now standardised on the Ei160 Series mains powered smoke alarms and Ei261 mains powered Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms from Aico for all their tenant safety requirements.
Ei Smoke Alarms Quick And Simple To Install
The Ei140 and 160 Series of mains powered smoke alarms are, according to exclusive UK distributor Aico, the quickest and simplest alarms to install thanks to their patented 'Easi-Fit' designs.
It recently conducted a Stock Condition Survey to assess its properties, covering such areas as fabric, mechanical and electrical requirements.
From this, a date was given for a year in which any electrical rewiring was required and during that rewiring the contractor has a provision for installing a new Aico smoke alarm system to BS.5839 pt.6 2004, if required.
Flats, Bungalows and houses will normally be provided with Grade D systems, LD3; optical type alarms are used throughout.
However, wherever special tenant needs are identified, the category of cover will be increased to LD2 standard and a commissioning certificate completed by the contractor.
In the case of tenants with hearing problems, Aico Deaf Alarms will be fitted.
To ensure that tenant needs are accurately accessed and acted upon, recommendations for special provisions are being made to Mendip through an occupational therapist.
"The safety of our tenants is paramount in terms of everything we do," says Contracts Surveyor James Lodge.
"We follow British Standards precisely and ensure that our contractors work within a strict code of conduct".
Mendip Housing was familiar with Aico's Ei160 mains powered smoke alarms because they had used them exclusively on a rolling programme to protect properties over the last couple of years.
"We have continued with Aico smoke alarms because they're a field leader with good, sound products," reports James Lodge.
"We've had no problems and all our contractors are familiar with them".
"We also enjoy a good relationship with our Aico Specification Manager, and she is always there to assist us in ensuring we meet the highest standards of tenant safety, and to adhere to the latest standards.".
