Aico has launched the unique RC range of products designed to offer simple, quick and cost-effective remote control for smoke and heat alarms.

Aico, the UK's leading suppliers of mains-powered smoke and heat alarms for the domestic market, has launched the unique RC range of products designed to offer simple, quick and cost-effective remote control for smoke and heat alarms Today, 'Best Practice' should mean following the BS 5839: Pt.6: 2004, which means installing more comprehensive systems comprising three, four or even more smoke and heat alarms

However, using more alarms will necessitate better control functions.

To meet this need, Aico has launched its new RC series of smoke and heat alarms designed to interface with an Ei1529RC Alarm Control Switch.

Using the Alarm Control Switch - which can be positioned anywhere for convenient access, similar to a light switch - residents can now quickly locate the exact alarm which has registered the fire, check the mains power, and simply and conveniently test and hush all the alarms on the system from one location.

This latter aspect, Aico points out, greatly increases tenant safety, as they no longer have to reach up to the ceiling to test or hush an alarm.

Furthermore, it can help to increase tenant compliance in regularly testing their alarms for the same reasons.

With just three wires and no separate base required, the new Aico RC Series smoke alarms are quick, simple and economical to install.

The RC alarms utilise the existing, proven Ei160 series technology and offer both Aico's patented Easi-Fit design and 10 year plus Lithium cell back-up.

Despite the addition of the new RC function, the alarms will cost the same as existing Aico Ei160 units, making alarm control highly affordable.

Aico's new RC control technology is available for conventional hard-wired interconnect systems and with the company's own unique RadioLINK wireless interconnect system.
