Aico Fire Training Scheme for Signpost Services

An Aico product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 4, 2009

Aico Fire Products Trained Installer Scheme has proved a success with Signpost Services, part of Spectrum Housing Group.

Signpost Services provides building maintenance services to social housing providers across the south west, including the Spectrum Housing Group.

It has worked with Aico for 11 years, installing its mains-powered smoke alarms into social housing.

Charlie Way, Electrical Contracts Manager at Signpost Services, comments on his product selection: 'I've been using Aico for eleven years at this company as it's a very good make.

'I've experienced a lot of problems with other smoke alarms and have replaced them all with alarms from Aico,' he added.

Signpost Services was quick to see the benefits of the Aico Fire Products Trained Installer Scheme and has so far sent 40 electricians for training.

They have instructed on: BS 5839: Pt.6: 2004 (the standard for domestic alarm installations), the types of smoke, heat and fire alarms for use in different applications and siting and installation guidance.

'The training scheme is very good and all the electricians that have attended appreciated it,' said Way.

'They have all been given a book by Aico as well which they have found very useful,' he added.

The Aico Fire Products Trained Installer Scheme is open to electrical contractors across the UK and is dedicated to providing members with the information and training necessary to achieve a successful and effective alarm installation.
