Ainsworth, manufacturers of Pourform, launch overlaid OSB concrete-forming panel that offers a cost-effective and FSC certified alternative to 'good one-side' (G1S) plywood.

Pourform-OS is aimed at contractors seeking to improve the pour quality in low-reuse concrete-forming applications, which typically use less than five pours such as low-rise structures, bridges, culverts, roads and other industrial and commercial projects using loose form systems or site-built forms The new concrete-forming panel features an enhanced MDO paper overlay on a specially engineered OSB panel

"Pourform-OS will provide contractors with many advantages over G1S plywood including equivalent or better reuse as well as better finish and release properties" said Mark Sutherland, manager of industrial and engineered wood product sales for Ainsworth.

"Best of all, OS will be cost-competitive with G1S plywood and will allow contractors to enjoy the benefits of an overlaid panel with the potential for a lower cost per pour".

Pourform-OS features a black MDO overlay, which helps to mask the strand pattern of the underlying OSB.

Telegraphing of strand patterns is expected to be significantly less than the grain and patch transfer imparted to concrete surfaces from non-overlaid G1S plywood panels.

The overlay also makes the panel easier to strip.

"Pourform-OS releases cleanly and easily with less maintenance time required for scraping of concrete build-up, so contractors spend less on labour for stripping as well as remedial work," continued Mark.

"The panel also gives a smoother, more consistent appearance free of wood slivers and rough texture that can be a characteristic of G1S plywood.

"And, because the overlay is specifically designed for concrete-form use, it will withstand the alkalinity of all common concrete mixes - protection that is not provided by non-overlaid plywood".

The finished concrete has a matte finish that is uniform in colour and accepts paint well.

Besides being FSC certified, the OSB substrate of the panel also utilises sustainable, fast growing tree species.

The panel itself accepts biodegradable release agents and uses less release agent than traditional panels.
