Colortrac Contact Image Sensor now in UK
Document Capture Co became owners of the first Colortrac SmartLF 4080e Contact Image Sensor scanner sold in the UK.
Since then DCC - whose services include document scanning, questionnaire design, online surveys, mail and print logistics, analysis and reporting and document management - has seen business grow so much that, in May 2007, it purchased a second scanner - a latest model SmartLF Cx 40e.
In October 2004, Large Format CIS scanners were new technology with no real track record.
At the time, Steve Morin, Allied Images' MD commented that "the launch of SmartLF will have a considerable impact on the market by creating opportunities for customers who previously were prohibited from owning a scanner by high prices.
Now, in 2007, the accuracy of that comment is revealed by sales of SmartLF CIS scanners outselling all other models.
SmartLF Cx40, launched in January 2006 as 4080's successor looks very similar from the outside, retaining the 4080's compact and lightweight design, however, under the skin things are very different.
New features for SmartLF Cx40 include; 600 dpi optical resolution, 48-bit colour data capture and the advanced, 2+4 all-wheel-drive 'Active Paper Transport' (APT) system.
Colortrac has adopted the dynamic normalisation application (DNA) used in its high-end CCD colour scanners that, combined with the 48-bit data sampling, improves the shadow and highlight details of images and provides far better tone recognition.
With high scan speeds, and other detail product enhancements, SmartLF Cx40 is pushing the top of the wide format scanner features league, but retains its affordable price tag.
Parimal Patel, MD of Document Capture ., commented that "our scanning business has grown over the last couple of years to the extent that we needed a second scanner".
"As we were happy with the performance we've had from the 4080 getting the latest SmartLF Cx 40 was the obvious choice".
